How a YHost verification actually works
No instant badges, no self-certification. Every request goes to a human reviewer at verifications@yhost.co.za and is screened before anything is issued.
Submit the request
You complete the request form with your business, domain and contact details. It reaches our verification inbox instantly, and you get an automatic confirmation with a reference number.
Ownership challenge
We reply with a DNS TXT record or an HTML file to place on your server. This proves you control the domain — nobody can request a badge for a site they do not own.
The twelve checks
Encryption, hosting, DNS, blocklists, malware, contactability, business identity, policy pages and more. Findings are recorded against your reference number.
Badge issued & monitored
You receive your badge ID and embed script. From then on your site is re-checked daily and the badge reflects the current state, not the state on the day you applied.
What happens after you click send
Minute 0 — Request captured
Form is validated, spam-screened and emailed to verifications@yhost.co.za. A copy is written to the server log.
Minute 0 — Confirmation sent
You receive an automated confirmation from info@yhost.co.za containing your reference number.
Within 4 hours — First contact
A reviewer acknowledges the request and sends your ownership challenge.
Within 24 hours — Screening complete
All automated and manual checks are finished and the outcome is written up.
Day 2 — Badge live
Approved sites get a badge ID, embed script and a public verification page.

How long does verification take?
Most reviews finish within one business day of receiving your ownership challenge response. Commerce tier reviews can take up to three business days.
What happens if my site fails a check?
We send you the findings and what to fix. There is no penalty — you can resubmit once the issues are resolved, and the original reference number stays with your file.
Does the badge slow my website down?
No. The script is under 4 KB, loads asynchronously and renders inline SVG. It adds no blocking requests and no third-party fonts.
What if my site goes down?
Daily monitoring detects it. The badge switches to a neutral state and links to a status page rather than showing a verification you no longer meet.
Can I use the badge on multiple domains?
Each badge is bound to a single verified domain. Additional domains are verified as separate requests, discounted for existing clients.
